Review : SteelSeries QcK Mass Pro Gaming Mouse Pad

With all of the expensive hardware that we buy for our gaming computers to make them “awesome”, we always seem to forget one of the cheapest and most needed parts of all; the mouse pad. Today we’re reviewing the SteelSeries QcK Mass Pro Gaming Mouse Pad; which is a medium sized, cloth coated gaming pad to provide a high quality gaming surface. Let’s take a look and see how well it performs.

Upon removing the tightly rolled up QcK Mass Pro, we can see that it’s sporting a completely black surface, with the SteelSeries logo featured on the lower right side; it looks very simple in design.

The QcK Mass Pro’s surface is made from a high quality cloth material that feels almost like felt to touch. Comparing it with my current mouse pad, the XTracPads Hyrbid, you can definitely feel the difference between the two, even though both surfaces’ textures look very similar.

The underside of the QcK Mass Pro is a specially designed non-slip rubber base that will stop the mousepad from sliding around during use unlike some cheaper (and even expensive) alternatives.

As you can see in the picture below, the rubber base has lots of tiny bumps and a criss-cross pattern which causes friction between itself and the desk, therefore creating a non-slip base.

The QcK Mass Pro is quite a thick, spongy mouse pad, measuring in at 6mm (0.2 in). Because of the use of the thick rubber base, the QcK Mass Pro is up there with some of the heaviest mouse pads.

Because of the soft, spongyness of the QcK Mass Pro, it is very comfortable and diminishes wrist pain.

The high quality cloth surface definitely came in handy whilst gaming, it allowed for fast and precise movements when either sniping someone or quickly moving out of harms way. I tested the QcK Mass Pro using my CM Storm Sentinel Advance gaming mouse and even with the DPI cranked upto 5600, the smooth, cloth surface still worked amazingly well in game.

The thickness of the pad also means that it is very comfortable to use, a must in my books for any gaming pad, so you can game to your heart’s content and not have to worry about any aches or pains that would occur using a basic mouse mat.

The criss-cross pattern on the rubber base means that the QcK Mass Pro can withstand almost any amount of force whilst gaming. Even when physically trying to push the QcK Mass Pro from above, it stays firmly in place.
